Framed Beadwork

I wove these pieces on one of my own looms.  I then secured the warp threads to a wooden frame that I afterwards wrapped in leather.  They are approximately 4¼ inches in diameter.  A 6-inch chain is attached to the brass eye at the top.  The other end of the chain has a brass ring so the piece is ready to hang.  The beads are Miyuki 8/0 glass seed beads.

These small wall hangings are best viewed at about six feet.  These designs are my own.  Copyright © 2007 by Michael Smetzer.  Thank you for not duplicating them.

Loom-Framed Bead Weaving

I made these looms so that they can also serve as frames.  I then wove the bead design for the pieces directly on the frames.  The frames are made of several layers of reeds with solid brass rods.  They are signed “Michael Woodchuck” lightly on the bottoms.  The reed parts of the frames have been sanded, sealed, and varnished.  A 6-inch chain is attached to the brass eye at the top.  The other end of the chain has a brass ring so the piece is ready to hang.  The beads are Miyuki 8/0 glass seed beads.
