Scroll Wall Hangings for Chinese New Years

Bead Wall Hangings – Chinese Year of the Horse 2014

Only four wall hangings were competed for the 2014 Chinese New Year, the Year of the Horse. A fifth variation was planned but was sidetracked by a hand injury at work.

I wove these wall hangings on a wooden bead loom.  I then stitched the top row onto a lower row and inserted a wooden  stick.  The hangings are approximately 3½ inches wide.  The beads are Miyuki 8/0 glass seed beads. The most recent hanging is first.

Bead Wall Hangings – The Chinese Year of the Snake 2013

The first designs for the Year of the Snake were mounted in round bamboo rings. Then I switched to scroll-style hangings, some of which are pictured below.

I wove these wall hangings on a wooden bead loom.  I then stitched the top row to a lower row and inserted a wooden or bamboo stick.  The hangings are approximately 3½ inches wide.  The seed beads are Miyuki 8/0 glass seed beads. Various larger beads and findings are attached. The most recent is first. As you can see, I have two very different approaches.
